USADLDSA invites teams to Lion Dance Across America

The USA Dragon and Lion Dance Sports Association is proud to collaborate with the Chinese Historical Society of America (CHSA), United Chinese Americans (UCA), and participating community organizations nationwide in support of Lion Dance Across America, a national America250 initiative celebrating the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence.

This initiative speaks directly to our mission: connecting teams, strengthening the national dragon and lion dance community, and elevating the visibility of our art across the United States. We are excited to help bring lion dance teams from across the country into this historic celebration and to be part of an effort that highlights community, participation, civic pride, and the stories we share.

Lion dance has long been a symbol of celebration, optimism, prosperity, and new beginnings. In the context of America’s 250th anniversary, it also becomes a meaningful way to tell local stories. From historic communities such as Deadwood, South Dakota, where Chinese residents took part in Independence Day festivities in the 1880s, to communities large and small across the country today, Lion Dance Across America reminds us that the American story is not only national. It is local, lived, and continually shaped by the people and communities who help build it.

We are honored to stand alongside CHSA, UCA, and community partners nationwide in helping bring this initiative to life. Together, we hope Lion Dance Across America inspires more communities to experience lion dance, learn about its cultural roots, and recognize the many ways Asian Americans have contributed to America’s past, present, and future.
